Karen Cameron, Director

Karen has been working with children in the Glebe since 1994. She started her career in child care as a caregiver for two young girls and her love of Early Childhood Education has grown from that special time. Karen has been working as a teacher at Good Morning since 2002 but her relationship with the school started in 2000, as a supply teacher, while she was care giving for a Glebe family and taking ECE courses through continuing education at Algonquin College.
In February of 2010, Karen stepped into the role of Director and has been happy leading the school since then. She was very eager for that opportunity in her career and after years of building relationships in this community she is confident in her role as Director of our beloved Good Morning.
Karen has worked in all of the school’s programs and she spearheaded the development of the Creative Arts program for school aged children. After having her daughter Molly in 2005, Karen has remained a constant in all the programs at Good Morning. Karen currently teaches the Preschool and Beyond Program and oversees all programs.
Outside of Good Morning, Karen plays ringette in an adult league, she is a certified Provincial Ringette Coach and a City of Ottawa Ringette Board Member. She loves camping, travelling, and spending quiet time with her family. Karen looks forward to every school year and can’t wait to work with your children at Good Morning.

Kayla Dolman, Teacher, RECE

From a very young age, Kayla knew that she wanted to work with children - her dream was to be a teacher from the age of five. She began her career with children working at Day Camps in Toronto and other volunteer programs geared towards children such as the Leading to Reading program run by the Toronto Public Library. In 2014, Kayla moved to Ottawa from Toronto to attend Algonquin College's ECE program and graduated in December 2016. She has been working as an ECE in a senior preschool room since then, and recently enrolled in the Autism and Behavioural Science program offered by Algonquin College to further her career in education, specializing in children with different developmental and behavioural needs.
She has a great passion for the arts, with a focus on drama and writing/story-telling. She was often involved in creating and acting in various drama projects at school, and even had the school Drama Award named after a character she played in her final year - inspiring others to follow in her footsteps. She also did summer arts camps based in writing and theatre, where she learned many story telling techniques and stage production tips. She experienced the amazing things creativity can do throughout her child and teen years, and loves to introduce others to the benefits of the arts.
In 2020, she created and wrote a children's book about the COVID-19 shutdown, with the assistance of two colleagues. She wrote three books in total, featuring a dog and his view of the world based on his family and what they are doing. The series is called Chester Explains, and there are books about Quarantine, Masks, and Mother's Day. These were distributed to the children in her former centre, and were used in class during circle to talk about what the children were experiencing.
Kayla is looking forward to joining Good Morning Preschool and bringing her love of the arts to your children.
